Renew your old artwork!

I have had an oil painting for many years, but was tired of it and wanted something fresh and new. The artwork was not valuable enough to re-sell, yet the frame and matting would cost a lot to replace. I decided to paint over the original painting , which was a little frightening at first- but once I started it was too late to turn back! Here’s how I did it:

re purposing old artwork1. Take the original and tape off the (plastic) matting.

2. Prime the entire area with white primer.

3. Find a design to match your decor and lightly draw it onto the primed surface.

4. Paint on your design, using quality brushes and acrylic paint. I also gave the frame a fresh coat of paint.

5. Remove tape and hang.

Voila! A new piece of custom art for your space!

What a fantastic idea! I never thought to do something like this. I’ll have to keep this idea in the back of my mind for future use. 😉 Also, thanks for your comment on my crepe paper chandelier. It’s funny what you can create with 3 simple and inexpensive items. 🙂
